Here is the Usual Rundown. I watch 100 movies I haven't seen before per year. Then I rate them. Then I bother my few blog readers so that they can have something to read and laugh about for a few moments during their day. I rate on a 5 Scale. It's self explanatory. If you need more explanation please visit my previous blog posts to catch yourself up. I suggest reading that anyway. Fun Stuff.
(41) I'm Still Here (2009)
I would like to start this off by retitling this movie. I'm not watching. This was a ridiculous movie. I didn't finish it. The whole movie was you following around Joaquin Phoenix during his arrogant and self appreciative hours. Who is this guy. He makes one good movie and thinks he is on the same level as Hanks, Cruise, Pitt and Stewart. This guy made a movie that I didn't personally care for, his performance was carried by Reese Weatherspoon plus, Cash's family protested against his casting. Who is this guy? Apparently he is still here, being relevant and rapping terribly. I do realize this is a complete spoof and he wasn't actually going after a rapping career, but his overbearing arrogance was just absurd. It put a bad taste in my mouth. I am not talking about the arrogance that is actually shown in the film. I am talking about the underlying arrogance where he feels this spoof is the best thing the entertainment business has ever seen. Well, Mr. Phoenix you may "Still be Here," but trust me sir. With your loud language, bad filming and even worse since of importance. I am not still watching. 0 out of 5.
(42) Devil (2010)
M. Night Shyamalan has disappointed and impressed in the past. It seems he either hits or misses. Sometimes he even goes half and half. This is one of those Half and Half moments. This could have easily been one of the best movies he ever put out, but it isn't. The acting was actually pretty good and the Actors did everything any Actor could have done to carry this. So the good things about this overpower the bad. The Acting is good, they keep the movie up and make it intense and moving at a good fast pace. It seemed as if every second counted. The Premiss was outstanding. I love Demon stories and like to see how they play out. The bad part of this movie, unfortunately was delivery. The build up and approach was correct, but bad transitions and even worse editing takes away from the magic this film could have. This story and feel was great, I can't stress enough that this film could actually be terrifying. It could be one of the best horror films of our time, But it isn't. It could have been it just fell short. If you enjoy Horror films, this one has a great feel. 3 stabs in the dark out of 5
(43) Whip It (2009)
In Juno, I had a feeling about Ellen Page, In Inception it was more than just a feeling, In Whip It it was confirmed Ellen Page is DEAD SEXY. This Movie was packed full of Awesome People Drew Barrymore, Kristen Wiig, Zoe Bell, and Jimmy Fallon. Juliette Lewis is in this. I don't care for her too much, Something about her reminds me of someone who lives in a trailer park and doesn't shower, and more concerned about her cigarettes than her 5 children of 5 different races. Now that I have pumped up this movie, lets talk about it. It's about a young woman coming into her own. It's full of laughs, hot chicks and funny moments. It's a riot. There are a lot of slow moments that build the characters, some of it is worth it some of it not. Lewis's character is a real douche, she pulls a douche off pretty well. Kristen Wiig is amazing, super sexy and funny. Where has she been?!?!?! She should be a superstar, I hope she becomes one soon. Ellen Page is her normal quirky self, she is like the Michael Cera of chicks, except she sometimes can be super Sexy and Super awkward. I just like her because she is funny, just like how I like Cera. No matter how many times he plays the same role, he is still really funny. Even if it gets old. The story is fun and inventive. It's not too over presumptuous about being one of the best movies, it sticks to its silliness even with the plot. The father was great, the mother was fun. I loved the premiss and the even greater delivery. Other than a little bit of boring where they develop plot, this movie is just constant giggles. 4 ow I bet that hurt out of 5.
(44) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Pt 2 (2011)
The Finale to a great 8 Film set. One of the most popular Franchises in History. I can't wait to watch the reboots which will come soon I am sure. No way do they leave this alone. Was this movie great. Lots of people don't think so. I admit some areas are more than inaccurate. Moments that had me closing the book walking to the bathroom for a nice hard cry in the sink, where just skimmed over and not made the big deal that they should have been. It was a little over dramatic at times. However, It doesn't mean that it wasn't a good close to this movie series. If it would have been perfect it wouldn't have been part of this Series. In my opinion the only perfect movie in this Series was pt. 1. Again that is just my opinion. I liked this movie. It was perfectly scary. The scenes at Hogwarts are fantastic, Well other than obvious things that should be there being left out. I like Neville making the 'Man Up' Call that was great. The Potter taking Voldemort off the side of the castle was obscene. Some of the other great things in this movie was action along with the battle at the castle. MRS. WEASLEY. enough said. Some of the best Potter moments of all time happen here. Overall as the last installment of this series. I have no choice but to give it a 5 out of 5, Only because it is a Potter movie and it wasn't a massive disappointment. At least not in my eyes. I can't wait for the Reboots.
(45) The True Story of Wrestlemania (2010)
There are some things that are important to me in my life, Some things I am a bit Fanatical about. Pro Wrestling is one of those things for me. I grew up watching it. I know trivia facts that no normal human being should know. Here's the thing. Netflix has decided to put a poo ton of Wrestling movies on. This has turned into me watching a poo ton of wrestling movies. Feel free to skip the reviews if you don't care about Pro Wrestling. Unless you want a good laugh at me geeking out about this stuff. They skipped a lot of wonderful moments like WWE always does. They focus these on Shawn Michaels and Other pet Projects and not the true builders of this company like Hogan, Hart and Austin. It sickens me. They did great background to the what happened to make Wrestlemania happen and great things that happened like guest that were there, movie stars, famous athletes and so on and so forth. A great History of, but they left some of the best moments out altogether. I guess it's an opinion thing. 4 out of 5.
Check back for more.
