Brandon Plays Old Games : Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas

So I got this one Free a while back via Xbox Gold. I started it and didn't get far, because my Holidays were swarmed with the in laws. Two and half weeks, regardless of who you are, is too long for a visit. Its just too long.

So, since I was forced off of this by my wife I barely even go a feel for this before giving up, but what I did feel, wasn't positive.

So this was basically the walk through section. The Cover function is super broken, it doesn't work well at all. You can spray and pray but it doesn't hit where you want. Ammo is scarce, which I wouldn't have a problem with if it didn't take 3 or 4 head shots to take down a run of the mill AI. Also, you're bossed around by the coms. Sneak around this side and find an alternate route they say. I do this and as I turn the corner I'm getting shot from like 4 different angles. Where if I would have just stayed where I was I could placed a 12-15 headshots and got through the 4 guys. Then, they tell you hey you should put your silencer on and take down people so you don't alert the rest of the guards. First shot, I looked everywhere before shooting him. No other person in sight. I take him out with the silencer. What happens. "you've ruined the element of surprise they know you're here" Wait, what? The guys in the room didn't budge and no one is coming from any other angle. How did I ruin the element of surprise? Then we go to the streets and they are like throw a smoke grenade, that way they cant see you. I do, I got shot so much I died. Restart. Ruin the element of surprise by using a suppressor, I say screw this stupid smoke grenade and I kill the bots. They won't let me advance without popping the grenade off so I toss it behind me and the invisible wall of magically no passing disappears and I can move forward. Roof top time. They basically point you in the direction where your guys will get shot the most.

This is either the crappiest game that's ever been made or it's intentionally trying to make it seem more difficult than it is by not allowing you to make your own decisions at first. Also, No Melee option that I could find. Maybe that will come into play later.

I had to stop here. Lame I know. Barely 20 minutes in.

Play through 2:

I got quite a bit accomplished in this play through. If you count dying a lot. I got Sniped a whole bunch. I then got to infiltrate a few buildings save a few people and then got to meet the main bad lady. She captured my two buddies and dropped a roof on me. I then played trough a cave mission that was severally broken. I must have went through that 10-25 times. Glitches by falling through the ceiling. Yep that's right the Ceiling. then the random re spawning of guys I just killed. In the end I made it out and climbed to the top just to once again get killed over and over. Once I made it past this part I was swiftly moved out to Vegas where I needed to infiltrate a casino and rescue some people. So much dying and replaying. either I have gotten really bad at games or these older games are a whole lot harder than the newer ones. Eventually I worked my into the casino. Up the stairs, after multiple attempts. I rescued the guy and escorted him out. The name of the game here was Die, Die, Die, Die, Die, Get Lucky move to the next section. Die, Die, Die.

Play Through 3.

More Casino stuff. Change of pace with the Asian music and cabana music, but ultimately the exact same gameplay.  I did enjoy the shield and the section with exploding pipes. The story line has gotten borderline terrible.

And.....

Well.....

Yep....

I'm done here. I've seen enough of this to know that it's more repetitive than a Call of Duty game. So.. Three play threws. Lots of deaths. No real meaning, lame characters and terrible controls. Why even have stealth mode if the second you pop a guy they all start shooting at you anyway.

This game was not good. I didn't enjoy it. With the small redeeming factors being the open availability of plenty of weapon choices. The response time of the team you commanded and the overall ease of pressure situations this game couldn't make up for it because guys were shooting you from 300 yards with a pump action shot gun.

The game breaking every fifteen to twenty minutes didn't help things.
