by this point you should know the deal.
(61) The Crazies (2010)
I went into this thinking it was just going to be another run of the mill scary movie, It turned out to be another Timothy Olyphant masterpiece. To say I liked this is to understate dramatically. It was great. I have talked to other people who have seen this and they again didn't agree. To each their own. I might have crappy taste in movies I don't know. I loved it. It was a classic Zombie type movie. I thought the Dude with the pitchfork going nuts was amazing. I thought making the military more evil than the Zombies was true to life in this circumstance. You know they are just going to bomb the area to get rid of the disease, It's the most logical thing to do. They will try and save who they can, but in the end if you're in the middle you're dead, end of story. basically nothing is really wrong with this movie. The acting is great, The story is as good and dramatic as you can get. I loved the small town aspect of it. I thought the whole town attacking the military is near to what would happen. I also thought the rednecks hunting was fantastic. This movie was perfectly paced, great action and solid horror flick ending, although not exactly resolving, I think it was a good random Zombie style flick. A solid 5 out of 5.
(62) The Fearless Freaks (2005)
My friend Cody is a massive Flaming Lips fan. I never really listened to them heavily. I knew who they were, I liked them, I liked everything I had previously heard, I just never made it a point to become a fanmaniac of them. I had even bought an album of theirs a few years back. Cody re-introduced me to this band. I really got into them heavily and he let me borrow this and check it out. This is a documentary based on the band. I have been listening to them for a while now, and I have to say they have become their own monster. I learned a great deal about the band through this documentary and I have come to the realization that Wayne Cohen is one of those Gifted people that could have done anything with his life, He chose Music. This band is going to go down as the most overlooked band of all time. Now to actually concentrate on the Documentary. It was extremely well put together, gave you everything you could want from a Musicmentary. It was really good. If you like the Music Documentary this is one you just can't miss. Wayne Cohen takes the helm in the movie and tells you stories from when he worked at Long John Silvers and Punched his brothers in the face. It was really really good. I give it a 5 alien space ship harboring santa clauses out of 5.
(63) The Last Airbender (2010)
I was looking forward to this movie as was Anne. We loved the television series we watched it from beginning to end, we laughed, we cried, we laughed some more. Then we finished and was amazed by the animation and the entire epicness of this series. Then we saw a trailer. This trailer showed a small boy air bending and the fire nation breathing down his neck. HOLY CRAP ITS THE LAST AIRBENDER!!!!! Then we were like wait, Why is it called the last airbender, what happened to Avatar, you know the original name of this show. OH RIGHT some gay blue people took that, and those smurfs on steroids wouldn't give that up. Is that OK. Well, on the off chance that this movie isn't worth the Avatar: the last airbender's name I guess It would be ok, because the Jungle Smurfs wasn't that terrible so I guess I'll let it slide. I mean but no way is this going to suck, I mean the trailers were awesome right. I have seen turds sparkle brighter. This was terrible. Not even close to what it should be. First off uncle Iroh is not a skinny middle aged man who flaunts his powers at every corner. Uncle Iroh is a fat old man who flaunts his tea at every corner. Aang is not a cry baby little whimp. He is an emotional young man, but not a little twerp. Katara is loving concerned character, but she is strong and actually cares, and needs to be played not only by someone cute, but someone who can deliver the lines correctly. Sokka is the funny one, not the pointless one. This movie was crap. crap. crap. crap. crap. crap. I was so angry and disappointed I almost cried. I'll give it a 1 for the effects because sometimes they looked cool. 1 out of 5.
(64) Inception (2010)
At first I was going to skip this entirely. I didn't really want to see it. However, The largest reason I went to see this was the hype. All of friends went to see and were talking about how fantastic it was. So I gave in. I wasn't disappointed. Lots of people really went overboard with it, in no way shape or form is this the best movie ever made. Is it good. OH yes it is. Was it the best movie I saw last year, It' up there thats for sure. The concept is complicated, but explained perfectly. The ending is up for grabs who knows what happened. I love movies like this. This one was well put together well acted. For the most part Dicaprio is amazing. I mean he has his shutter islands. Ellen Page is fantastic I think I will watch everything she does. It was a great movie. From start to finish I liked it. You will too. 5 out of 5.
(65) Signs (2002)
I don't typically like cheap alien flicks, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Yes I do. So why haven't watched this. I never really watched the X files either, I don't have an excuse for it, I just had not seen it. I like Mel Gibson overall as an actor. I mean his other views are what ever. I just wanted to point out that he has some fantastic movies out there. This being one of them. It was slow to get started. Then all of a sudden they were chasing something around outside. What was it, who was it. I liked how they built up to it. It had irreplaceable moments like the air shaft in the basement with the little boy. If you haven't seen it, Wait for that. If you have then you know what I am talking about. Really great flick watch it if you haven't seen it. I like the way it was set up, which makes me wonder if this is the same director of the Last Airbender why did this rock and that one suck. 5 out of 5.
(66) Ong Bak 2 (2008)
If you like Kung Fu. You know about this movie. It's a straight forward Kung Fu movie, nothing but action, nothing but amazing. I don't have much to say, It's your typical nonsense plot line. Family was wronged by ninjas, pirates, thugs, whatever. So Craziness occurs. He fought an Alligator at 7. At 7. It was a great action flick. If you like those. It's not much to it. However, it is fantastic for what it is. 4 out 5.
(67) Teen Titans: trouble in Tokyo. (2007)
I loved the television show. The spin off movie was just a longer episode of the show. So it was amazing. It was full of good of beast boy jokes, robin being a pushy punk, raven being depressed, and the other two (cyborg and starfire) doing other (cyborg and starfire) things. It was a fun movie, if you have kids or you yourself enjoy cartoons (like I do) then watch it. It was really fun. Good action and a good plot that was carried throughout the movie. It wrapped up and it was easily separated from happened or will happen in the show. I give it a 5 out of 5, it got everything right and nothing wrong.
(68) Stealing Harvard (2002)
I watched this because I like Jason Lee. I mean the Kevin Smith Movies and my name is earl. Good stuff. Anyway, the craziest part of this movie is the story line. I mean tell that little girl to go F herself you didn't mean it. whatever, I thought the plot was lame, the acting was actually terrible, sometimes these actors get it right and sometimes they just don't and this time they just didn't. It was terrible. Tom Green wasn't that funny. I mean there were definite parts that were funny and some parts that were meant to be funny that was 100% not funny. I mean really terribly not funny. So not funny that it took away points from the entire movie overall. It was just poorly delivered, not that there was much there to deliver in the first point. It does get a few points, It wasn't all bad. I mean Green does make some pretty funny moments. Jason Lee didn't stink it up entirely there were moments when you could really see that it actually was Jason Lee playing that lame character. I just didn't like it, it was tolerable I guess. I would skip it though If you are looking at this as an Idea of what movies to check out. 2 out of 5.
(69) Traitor (2008)
This movie could have been a 5 out of 5. The acting top notch, but when has Don Cheadle not delivered I mean he is the Ladies man. This movie Plot had potential to be one of the best movies ever made. However, It was very long winded and explained it's plot, then explained it again, then explained it again. Then it told you the plot. I could have been cut in half. Some of the scenes were amazing. The ending was downright one of the best endings in movie history, Should you watch it, It's a good espionage movie, so if you like them yes watch it. If you don't like them stay away. It was a good movie, not a great movie though. The director Jeffrey Nachmonaoff I think made this movie drop a few notches. It was put together incorrectly, it is a movie for someone like me, but over explained to the point that it made me feel insulted. This just is not a 5 or a 4 because the long running time detracted from the movie, The plot line was good acting great, but there were tons of scenes that just needed to be cut or never filmed. So a potential 5 becomes a mere. 3 out of 5.
(70) The Gene Generation (2008)
The Gene Generation is a crazy Sci-Fi plot movie with a sexy Japanese chick as the lead. She has a Douche bag little brother, There weren't anything fantastic to say about it. The best part of this movie was the action. Lots of fantastic dramatic gun action. bullets flying everywhere. swords and stabbings. There is a retarded love story, oh wait the entire plot was retarded. It was one of those movies that isn't supposed to be that great in the first place it was just a quick gun and sword silly sci fi movie. It was good for what it is. I give it a 2 out of 5.
(71) the dark side of the moon (1999)
This was a documentary on the making of the album Dark Side of the Moon. Which is one of the most highly celebrated albums of all time. It is also one of the top selling albums of all time. I think Pink Floyd is one of the best rock bands of all time. They put out a lot of great music not only this album, but meddle, The Wall, A momentary lapse of reason and more. They really just cover this album and what was going on during the making of this album, it was nice to see an inside thought about this band was going through at this point in their life. I really liked this, I like the band and enjoyed the Documentary. If you don't like the band, why would watch this? So if you remotely like this band, then you will love this. 5 out of 5
(72) Haunting in Connecticut (2009)
This movie was littered with jumpy moments that left your heart racing. They mystery of what exactly was in that room, and why that room was creepy was fantastic. The guy who played the lead role, Kyle Gallner left a bit to be desired. I don't like this guys acting. He wants to be dark and mysterious like the twilight guy Robert Pattison. He isn't. The best thing about this movie was the plot. It was supposed to be a horror movie. This isn't. It was a suspenseful sick movie, but not sick in the good way. It was just gross stuff to be gross. The whole ghost story back story was silly and ended up being lame. However, the movie wasn't a complete loss. It was a very good idea to throw cancer on the main person to make him a weakened character. This made you pull for him even though he was kind of a douche. The fact that he was progressively getting worse helped you feel that this guy just might not make it. The ending in the movie is the best part, not because it is over, but because it wrapped up the story very well. This movie isn't great, but it's not horrible either. Just a simple 3 out of 5.
(73) Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)
I have never seen any of the original movies so I wanted to. I watched the first one first, I wanted to watch them in order. This one was really silly, however, Star Trek is really silly. When looking at the graphics it was a really good for 1979, probably the best of 1979. I thought the amazing ship that was the enemy of the movie was well done. However, the contrast between the enterprise and the enemy ship was crazy. The ending was Hilarious, I thought it was good for what it is. I thought it was a perfect first movie for the Star Trek franchise. I could never take Star Trek seriously it is a great Science Fiction franchise, I love the characters the characters are amazing. Some of the best character development in the history of entertainment belongs to Star Trek and that is why Star Trek is what it is and what it is is amazing. I am not a Trekky. I can't name very many of the characters outside of the main list. If you are a Star Trek fan you have already seen this. If you are looking into getting into to Star Trek, you should watch this one. Don't watch them all. I will go over all of them in this blog over time. The first one is good. A quality 5 out of 5
(74) Batman: Under The Red Hood (2010)
I liked this overall. I thought some the action was amazing. I liked the fact that they finally put some good Nightwing action in a new movie. I love the animation that DC comics is coming out with. This movie was no exception. It was great. Fantastic overall movie. The largest let down was the Joker, Horrible voice casting. HORRIBLE. more of a Italian mobster than a deranged lunatic. It just didn't fit the character. This is the a great rendition of this story I love the Jason Todd character. I loved all the other character renditions. I am a real stuck up prick when it comes to my comic book characters. However, this one other than the Joker were very well done. The story was great, the plot easily carried out. The timing was great and the transactions smooth. If you like Superhero Animation movies you will like this one. 5 out of 5.
(75) Percy Jackson the Lightning Theif (2010)
The Storyline is extremely close to Clash of the Titans. The son of a god and a mortal is the protagonist. The Story basically breaks off from the comparison to clash of the titans from here. It takes a lame turn. Zeus's Lightning bolt went missing and The gods think Percy took it. Only problem is, he didn't. So he has to figure out who took it. Apparently the gods of myth are really horny because there is a huge training camp for their illegitimate kids to train in. Really freaky. Freaky in the way that these gods have all of these kids. I mean a huge training camp full. The story goes on and the female protagonist gets introduced. She was more of man than the entire cast of men including the old men at the end, I'm not sure she wasn't a male. The movie moves along pretty fast, the special effects weren't that great. They were not horrible but just not good. The whole flying shoes thing. Stupid, not the idea of the shoes just the way this movie carried out the use of the shoes. The lighting bolt was used more like a laser gun than a lighting bolt. It wasn't horrible. It was just ok. It didn't suck, just 3 out of 5.
Ok. 3/4 of the way there.
